News EU one step closer to Accessibility Act

The European Accessibility Act, which seeks to bolster existing accessibility requirements for products and services, was voted through the European Parliament on September 14. The Act must be approved by the EU Council before becoming law.

A European Accessibility Act that would make it easier for senior citizens and people with disability to use ATMs, check-in and other ticketing machines has been hailed as a “huge opportunity” by MEP Marlene Mizzi.

News New ITU Standards to assess quality of adaptive-bitrate video streaming

A new suite of ITU standards provides model algorithms to monitor the quality of video streaming over mobile devices as well as large screens with fixed-network connections. The standards are applicable to both progressive-download and adaptive-bitrate video streaming.

News New ITU standard provides basis for high-quality Voice over LTE (VoLTE)

A new ITU standard highlights the key factors influencing end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) for voice communications over 4G mobile networks. The standard will form the basis of future ITU standards on specific aspects of QoS for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Video-telephony over LTE (ViLTE).

News First official presentation of the Media Accessibility Platform

The first official presentation of the beta version of the Media Accessibility Platform will be at the 11th Languages and the Media Conference.

The conference will be held in Berlin from 2 to 4 November 2016. It will gather scholars and professionals under the general theme "Agile Mediascapes – Personalising the Future".
